Do you charge anything for estimates? No, all estimates are free! Whether you prefer an on-site visit or a virtual consultation, we're happy to provide a detailed quote at no cost to you within our service area, which includes Hoboken, Jersey City, and surrounding areas in North New Jersey. What’s included in each quote? Every quote we provide includes comprehensive protection for your property. We carefully cover all floors and furniture to shield them from any paint. Additionally, we take care of minor wall imperfections by repairing all screw holes and dents at no extra charge.
What’s not included in each quote? While we address minor wall repairs, our standard quote does not include skim-coating. Skim-coating is a more labor-intensive process that involves applying a thin layer of joint compound to create perfectly smooth walls before painting. Achieving this level of smoothness requires a separate discussion and is not part of our standard preparation.

If you're interested in lime-washing, you'll need to select and pre-order the lime-wash paint from BauwerkColour. Please note that lime-washing is a slow and labor-intensive process due to the required prep-coat and the manual application using a special technique. Do you do commercial painting? While the majority of our projects are residential interior painting, we are happy to provide quotes for offices, retail spaces, and other commercial properties. Please contact us to discuss your commercial painting needs.
Paint & Materials
What brands of paint do you use? At Hoboken Painter Inc., we typically use high-quality paints from Benjamin Moore. We find that their Regal Select line offers excellent coverage, durability, and a fantastic selection of colors. According to the New York Times, Regal Select paints are considered excellent for these qualities. We are also happy to work with paints from Sherwin Williams and other brands based on your preferences.
Do I have to get the paint myself or will you get it for me? For your convenience, if you choose Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paints, you only need to specify the desired paint, and we will pre-order and deliver it to your property at no additional charge. Due to the non-returnable nature of paint, we tend to estimate slightly lower on the quantity and purchase an extra 1-2 gallons if needed to ensure complete coverage. For other paint brands, we kindly ask that you pre-order and obtain the paint yourself.
How do I select paint color, sheen & grade? Choosing the right paint color, sheen, and grade can feel overwhelming, but we're here to help! We advise our customers to refer to our comprehensive paint selection guide for helpful tips and information. You can find our paint selection guide here.
Scheduling & Logistics
Do I need to schedule painting in advance? Yes, we highly recommend scheduling your painting project in advance. We are typically booked a few weeks out, so contacting us early ensures that we can accommodate your preferred dates. Our typical booking lead time is around 2-3 weeks, but this can vary depending on the time of year and project size.
What time do you work? Our typical work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This includes a half-hour break for lunch and a short coffee break to keep our team energized throughout the day.

What forms of payment do you accept? We accept a variety of payment methods for your convenience, including cash, credit cards, debit cards, checks, Venmo, PayPal, and Zelle. As a thank you for choosing non-credit card payment options, we automatically apply a 3% discount to your total, as credit card payments incur a 3% processing fee from the banks.
Are you insured? Yes, absolutely! We carry comprehensive liability insurance and workers' compensation insurance to protect both our team and your property. If your building requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI), we are happy to provide one. Please just give us 1-2 business days' notice to obtain the COI.
